About the author

Anna Blaen obtained her PhD in 2017 from the University of Exeter, where she was also awarded her BA and MA. Her research specialises in the Renaissance period. Her doctorate examined the use of sexual humour in early modern literature and medical texts. She teaches in the English departments of the University of Exeter and the University of Plymouth, and is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and ASPIRE. She is the author and editor of various books, including West Country Folklore, Friends & Fiction.
